They must put crack in their sauce!!! It is sooooo good!
I've been to Mexico and this is one of the "closest taste to Mexico" joints we found!!!

Everything we ordered was on point.
I got the enchilada and quesadilla combo...
hubby got some sort of burrito...

mmm all the cheese...all the sauce...
maybe if I close my eyes tight enough it'll all be calorie free...

wow. ok so that funny blue mexican restaurant (that I've passed by for years) really serves good food???!!! yes... why yes it does!

Fresh and yummy... 3 dips for the chips-interesting and tasty...big fat prawns for my fajitas, and a happy steak salad. sat outside on the patio and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I don't know what all of the hype is about???? This place was sub par by best. The chips and salsa were not very good and the service was ok. For being a mexican place I thought place had very poor enchiladas. The sauce is funky and the plates are small for the amount you pay. I can think of numerous better places to go on the peninsula for Mexican.

All the Fiesta titled restaurants in Mt. View (La Fiesta, Fiesta Del Mar and Fiesta Del Mar Too) are a notch above your average Mexican food.

Pros: The Enjococado sauce itself at Fiesta Del Mar itself deserves special praise. I've had good Moles at other places, but I have yet to eat at another Mexican restaurant with a sauce comparable to the Enjococado here. I always get the Enjococado enchiladas here and make sure to mop up the extra sauce with my rice and beans.

Service is prompt and friendly and their "Top Shelf" margaritas are also very good, with an impressive array of Agave tequillas to chose from.

Cons: This place gets VERY busy at the end of the work week for lunch, with the lunch crowd starting at 11:30 and not letting up until nearly 1:30 PM. Expect to wait a while for a table if you show up at noon. Decor is on theme without being too tacky, although seating when crowded is definitely cramped.  Also the prices are a tad high for Mexican food, but it seems to be what the market will bear.

I've been eating here for years and am interested in reading some of the reviews.  I think where some people have gone wrong is not getting Fiesta del Mar's specialties.  It's Party of the Sea.  Stick with the fish.  Nobody has mentioned the fish tacos; stuffed with big chunks of flaky halibut - a perfect meal.  The shrimp quesadillas used to be bay shrimp and were a little fishy but for the last year they have been using big shrimp/prawns and they are delish.  Any of the camarone dishes are excellent, my favorite is camarone ala diabla.  It takes a couple of margaritas (on the rocks) to keep the heat from blowing off the top of your head.

The staff is wonderful.  This place hasn't won so many awards for nothing.

Overall, Fiesta Del Mar was a disappointment. I admit I have high expectations when it comes to what I deem "acceptable" in terms of Mexican food. My mouth was drooling when I was reading the menu, but the food just wasn't satisfying at all. My food was pretty bland, with the exception of the rice. The rice was way over seasoned or something and left a really bad aftertaste in my mouth. It just tasted really weird and I couldn't even eat most it. I thought it was really unappetizing. My friend had the fajitas and those were just so-so. It tasted like something I easily could have made myself. The fajitas were missing that distinctive aroma of sizzling meat and veggies you normally get when they're served to you.

I'm stumped as to why this place was so packed. Maybe I would have left here happier if I ordered a margarita. You can't go wrong with a margarita, right?

I once left here so full that I could hardly walk.
One of the salsas that they offer is good enough to drink!!
I get the Chicken Enjococado Burrito or the Chicken Enjococado Plate - what is in this treat called enjococado?
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE you Enjococado - see you soon!

This place is phenominal. The food tastes so fresh and the shrimp dishes are the best I have ever had; emphasis on the EVER. The service is so friendly! The only complaint I have is that everything is a little crammed. However, the food and service make up for it. I highly recommend the camarones mojo de ajo; it's heaven.

This place is sooo good, it should be illegal!

Every time I go, I get the "Grandma's Special Enchiladas." These are seriously the best enchiladas I have every had. My boyfriend got the carnitas and it was delicious. The margaritas kick ass too!

This place feels like a gold old authentic mexican restaurant!!!

I love this place! There tortilla soup is delicious, I recommend adding a side of avocado, it can be a bit spicy!  The bright red salsa is really good too,my fav in fact. They also have a pretty decent selection of tequila and a nice drink list to go with it.
They are always super busy at lunch time so beware, but its Mexican food so they turn tables pretty fast. The staff is friendly and the food is good so for sure worth the wait!
The decor will make you feel like you are in a seaside restaurant in Mexico and not off the 101!

Always a winner. Every time.
You'll likely have to wait for your table, but this is a good thing. The place is in high demand, in spite of their great competition across the street, Taco Bell.  Really, how DO they do it?

A pitcher of house margarita is the perfect match with the beef burritto, a good friend, and some juicy dinner conversation. Really, you can't  go wrong. Don't bring a first date here. Why? Because if your date stinks, you'll not be able to enjoy, and this place is meant to be enjoyed.

The staff is SO nice, every single time. Many of them have been there for the three years or so that I've known the place, which says something good.  The owners actually serve you here as well, which I'm a big fan of. They're into it. They want you happy.

The main courses available are delicious, and come with just the right amount of food. The chicken soup? Outstanding. If you're not that hungry, or feelin' ill, it's chilly outside, get the soup.  It will warm your soul.

Muchas Gracias. I heart Fiesta del Mar.

I don't drink much but even I think the margaritas here are delicious.  I came here by chance with an old coworker - it was in the geographic middle between our workplaces and it was right off the 101.  I was stuck in traffic and late and I ordered a steak but after I had a chance to look around I started noticing the colorful fish motifs.  DOH!  Fiesta DEL MAR!  Argh, I was kicking myself for not figuring out that this place specializes in seafood, but no matter, the steak was really good anyway.

The next time I came back I returned with a friend who comes here nearly every Thursday night with the guys for drinks and good food.  This time I ordered a shrimp entree and it was terrific and they comped us a huge quesadilla appetizer (although that may have had something to do with my friend being a long-time regular there).

The chips at Milagros still win for me, but the drinks are best here at Fiesta Del Mar and the food is better also.  4.5 stars.

One of my most favorite places to dine for mexican food!  I always order the same thing when I come here...

Shrimp Alex - love the sauce they put on here!  They also put cheese on their rice which makes it so yummy!

Shrimp a la Diabla - pretty  good too!  Spicy

The Boss Margarita - Margarita with Patron!  Love it!  Order it by the pitcher!  It's one of the best margaritas I've ever had.  The big plus is they use Patron!

I just had one of the best dining experiences of my LIFE here.

Oh, Fiesta Del Mar. With my rudimentary Spanish skills (gato is cat, cabrito is a cute little goat), I understand this to mean "party by/of/in/at the sea". Their menu features many yummy-looking shrimp dishes, but that's all the sea I saw.

We came here per the suggestion a friend who has yet to disappoint me in his food recommendations, and somehow, I managed to convince my friends to listen to me for once. The five of us had to wait a little (their seating area is much better suited for smaller parties), but it wasn't more than fifteen minutes or so. When we were seated by our lovely host Luis, we decided to share two pitchers of margaritas, one blended strawberry ($26) and one regular (uh, "regular" doesn't really cover it, the have SO many tequilas) for $22. Between two lightweights, two alcoholics in training, and a dentist (that's the only way I can describe him), we all managed to get those rosy cheeks and giggly smiles by the end of our meal. And they were very, very tasty.

For entrees, three of us got the two enchilada combo plate that comes with rice and beans ($14 each), one got a single enchilada combo ($9, I think), and one got a kids plate quesadilla. I really liked that she just got carded for her drink, then proceeded to order a kids plate. That's awesome. The food was really good and totally worth the price. The enchilada sauce was up to my very picky standards (not too thick, good flavor-not too spicy or bland), the rice was delicious, and my favourite part was the little cup of beans topped with a dash of cheese. The top looked slightly bruleed, how cute !

The food was good, the drinks were strong, but what really made me love this place is due to the fact that our meal was punctuated by the most random, inappropriate comments from a boisterous woman at an adjacent table. We actually started writing them down, and I will share a few with you :

"MY COUSIN'S MOTHER, WHO IS ALSO HER AUNT, SHE HAD BREAST CANCER".

"WHEN MY MOTHER WAS DYING OF OVARIAN CANCER..."

(Seriously, I don't even talk about cancer at dinner, and I am a total Debbie Downer 24/7).

"FOR EUROPEANS, NEW YORK IS LIKE A MECCA RIGHT NOW. THE EURO IS LIKE 1.30 TO THE DOLLAR"

"NEW YORK IS BOOBMING[sic]".

"IN THE JEWISH RELIGION, WHEN YOU DIE, SOMEONE COMES AND SITS WITH YOUR BODY. EVEN THOUGH YOU'RE DEAD, SOMEONE SITS WITH YOU. IT'S VERY PEACEFUL".

And, my personal favourite,
"SOME PEOPLE DON'T GET TO BE HAPPY AT THE END OF THEIR LIVES".

Seriously the funniest possible conversation that we couldn't help but overheard; we couldn't even get our own conversation going, that's how loud this woman was. But I'm not complaining, cos those margaritas were good and that woman was freakin' hilarious.

I love the seafood soup at this place!  I know, you don't go to a Mexican restaurant for soup, but sometimes you just want something a little lighter.  If you don't care about the calories or the fat, I would suggest the grandmother special recipe enchilada.  Dip some tortilla chips in the sauce and feel the fat hitting your hips.  Some of their dishes are a miss for me, like their seafood enchilada.  It's a bit fishy for me.

Fiesta Del Mar is great!  The salsas were terrific; they serve three different kinds at the table.  The spicy one is full of flavor and very unique; I couldn't get enough.  Had the mole enchilada and it was very good as well.  Overall a winner, and when I'm in the area, I will be back.

Very crowded so be prepared to wait.  They ignore you a bit via a "please sign yourself in" philosophy, but it's understandable given how busy they are.

Overall, good food, nice atmosphere, fast service, hefty proportions.

The fajitas were lacking in flavor.  Salsa was so hot that it burnt my tongue - suppose that's my own fault, huh?  Chips were decent but not freshly made.

I have never missed here. Anything I order or my friends order (I frequently eat off people's plates) has been exquisite. I especially love their seafood (duh, the restaurant is called a party by the sea). I like to stick to the shrimp entrees. They do make their food ridiculously spicy so if you don't like it spicy, don't order the ones that have the chilis on the menu.

I have been intrigued by this place for awhile now - I drive by it on my way to my Man's place. Sometimes the lot is packed so it must be good. Finally I convinced him to try it for lunch...

Not a fan.

The place is kinda cute inside with a A LOT of tequilas on the bar. The menu is diverse and everything is about $9.95 and comes with good rice and crappy beans.

I had a burrito the encajacos (sp?) one - it was BLAND. The orange sauce on it was good but it was basically a tortilla with chicken in it. I had to put salt and pepper on the chicken so that I could have some flavor. He got the chicken enchiladas and they were pretty good and looked way better than mine.

Chips were ok, but served cold and I liked the 3 types of salsa they gave us. I don't think I would go back, I mean I can get a huge flavor-filled burrito down the street for $6. So it wasn't terrible but it definitely was not impressive

I heart Fiesta Del Mar.

It's not your typical authentic Mexican place, a bit more Americanized but the food is good.

PROS
*great food (chicken tortilla soup - must try, enchilada with house orange sauce, chicken/steak salad with balsamic vinaigrette -- very good, their rice is very yummy --cooked with potatoes, onions and some other stuff)
*good service
*not overpriced
*consistent with service and food
*there are two locations in Mt. View
*never disappointed

CONS
*nothing really....you'll probably have to wait.

I had to plan a lunch for 2 of my co-workers who both love mexican food and this place is just down the street from our office, so I thought this would be the perfect spot to go.

4 stars, only because they don't take reservations. The lunch was scheduled for 12 pm so, me along with another co-worker went there at about 11:30  to hold a table for about 12. The waiters promptly set up a table with menus, a round of waters and a few baskets of chips and salsa (3 types) for us while we waited...

Little did we know, the rest of the clan was running very late. Then, a bunch of people started coming in. I felt bad, because we had so much space and no one had showed up yet and I was afraid that they were running out of tables! After apologizing profusely, they assured me that it was fine and finally the rest of them showed up.

The food was delicious. I ordered Enchiladas Suizas and they were probably the best there than I've had elsewhere. We also ordered a couple pitchers of margaritas and they were perfect as well.

Okay, so I'm going to bump it up to 5 stars, because they were so patient and our experience there as a whole was great.

Fiestafabulous...this place is a huge favorite of a ton of our friends and, it seems from the line out the door on the weekends, most of the people living in the BayArea.

Since I'm so picky about my 'Mexican' food...to me Fiesta is more like a Cali-Mex since they focus so heavily on seafood and drinkies than anything else. Their seafood is wonderful, and their margaritas are wonderfully potent.

But don't be confused, this is not Grandma's cooking...don't come here for the rice and beans because the rice won't have that kickin' homemade spanish tomato saffron taste and the beans are a little too runny to be made anywhere near Grandma's kitchen...but DO come here for their amazing chicken soup bowl...or the yummy warmed flour tortillas. Or their shrimp quesadilla. Or the tacos. Or their crab enchiladas, margaritas, chips and dip, guacamole. Yum.

So while we don't come here looking for anything super 'down-home' (we go to Casa Lupe for that!!)...we do love Fiesta for being fabulous on a few other things that our fave places AREN'T. That's why we come here year after year after year...and wait with all the other Fiesta groupies outside in 45 degree weather on a Friday for our name to be called. Strawberry margarita pleaseeee.

My parents were visiting me in Mountain View for the weekend and were craving Mexican food.  Since I was too lazy to drive them into SF and they're not into "too edgy" stuff anyway, I figured (based upon the reviews here) that Fiesta Del Mar would be a good bet.  Doesn't hurt that it's 5 minutes walking distance from where I live :)

Well, it was okay.  More specifically...

THUMBS UP:
- Even on a busy Saturday night, we were seated in under 5 minutes!
- All the folks who served us were friendly and helpful.
- They don't skimp on the alcohol in their margaritas!  Those things pack a punch (and are tasty, too).  Plus, *lots* of variety.
- Their mole sauce is absolutely delicious! (my dad had the mole burrito, I had the mole enchilada)
- They take American Express :)
- Chicken was pretty "safe" and non-fatty for a Mexican restaurant.  No bones, no gristle, etc.

THUMBS DOWN:
- Their chips taste like something out of a bag.
- Their salsas range from medium to medium-hot.  No pico de gallo? WTH?!
- Chicken was bland.  In fact, aside from the mole sauce, BLAND was the word of the day.  Their special 100-year-old-sauce which I won't even try to spell?  Bland bland bland.  Rice?  Bland.  Beans?  Bland.

Even though I wasn't looking for really clever / edgy / OMG Mexican food, I have to say that (again, excepting the mole sauce), this food was booooooring.

Overall flavor: 2 stars
Service: 4 stars
Alcohol: 4 stars
Chips/salsa: 2 stars
Chicken: 2 stars
Parking: 4 stars (not covered, but free and plentiful)
Safety: 4 stars
Ambience: 3 stars (nothing special, nothing awful)

The grandson was at a birthday party at Laser Quest, so we took a nice walk around Shoreline Park, the stopped into Fiesta Del Mar for dinner.  Two Casa Margaritas on the rocks to start, and we chatted over chips and salsas until the food arrived.

Wifey had Esalada Del Mar and see said it was very good - lots of crab and shrimp and a tasty dressing too!  I had the Carnitas Burito, and I should have ordered a sauce with it as it was a little dry - but it was still good.  I used some salsa to moisten it up a bit and give it a bit of kick.

The seafood entrees all seem to be aroudn $19.95.  Although I've been here a few times, I never seem to be in the mode for seafood - or willing to spend $20 on them.

Service was attentive without being intrusive.  It's a nice 3-star Mexican Restaurant.

this is one of our favorite restaurants, start with the margarita of the day and chips.  Then go for the shrimp cocktail, a heavenly blend of tomato, lime, hot sauce and bay shrimp, not like the shrimp and cocktail sauce.  Tortilla soup is wonderful and although I have had some of the shrimp dinners, since I tried the mole, now every time we go I order it.  And they put potatoes in the rice, what a surprising flavor they add.
And we live walking distance so can enjoy more than one margarita, in fact usually start with a pitcher...

I just adore this place! They are always packed, and it was especially so this Valentine's Day. The hubby and I got there at 6:30, and our eyeballs popped out at the crowd. We were worried that we weren't going to be able to make Jumper at 7:55pm.

The truth is, we do this all the time...go to Fiesta del Mar, find it tremendously packed, and then sweat about whether or not we'll make our showing.

Well, we needn't have worried. We never have to worry. They seated us rather slowly, but once we told them we were catching a movie, they took our order right away, brought our food within 5 minutes, and at 7:20pm, we were out the door.

Not to mention, the food is GOOD! I don't even really like Mexican usually, but their veggie burrito is delicious and flavorful and SO worth the average 25-30 minute wait we experience.

My friend introduced me to this place about a year ago and I ABSOLUTELY love this place. It is sooooo yummy.  We started a ritual and go there every Friday after work...we've been doing this for about 3 months now.  :)  You can do to go orders or eat there. They are very speedy and have great service. Always quick to refill drinks and chips. Yay for Fiesta Del Mar! Just don't forget (we didn't know the first time we went), if there is a wait, you have to sign yourself in the book waiting list.

A veritable can't miss for a lively atmosphere, attentive staff, and wonderful food. I have dined here over ten times-both in small and large parties and it has never disappointed. The tequila selection is top-notch. Don't worry about whether or not they will forget your party once you sign the piece of paper upon coming in; they never do. Watch out: some dishes are very spicy. Overall, a solid choice for a casual, fun meal.

I love Mexican food. This place just plained sucked. There was way to much fat in the meat. I had the Carne Asada and it was bad. It was over priced. The chips were ok. The salsa was out of a jar but still not bad. The decor wasn't bad. Staff was friendly...Two stars because the food is not authentic. I was surprised too since there are a lot of hispanic people living in the area...but I didn't see any locals eating there. That should have been a sign.

I'd heard so many good things about this place, I had high expectations. The 4 of us went for dinner and got there at 5:30. The staff was friendly although it took a while for someone to take our order.

The salsa was mediocre and did not taste fresh. I ordered a dish with prawns in it and the prawns were overcooked and chewy. My boyfriend ordered a beef dish and the beef was dry and stringy.

Sadly enough, both of us began having serious gastroinstestinal upset within 30 minutes. I ended up being sick all night.

Shrimp dishes (pricey, but good)
Sangria & margarita  (extra points that they have it in 1/2 liter carafe)
Chips were nice & light
Salsa -all 3 flavors were really spicy! (agree with another Yelper that they need to BRING BACK the less spicy salsa as an option!!)

OK:
Beef cubes lacked spices
skip the beans

I'll ask them to sub the rice & beans with the salad instead next time.

Ugh, I used to go here irregularly with co-workers and gave up after getting sick from a shrimp quesadilla...Co-workers insisted that we go here today so I thought I'd give it another chance.

We had a party of 5 that got there right around noon and, no surprise, no tables available for 10-15m. Not a huge deal, we socialized outside while waiting.

The chairs, while festive, are as uncomfortable as a bed of nails (actually, I suspect a bed of nails would be more comfy.) The noise level was borderline unbearable.

Once my $9.50 chili verde burrito arrived, I was amazed that this place is as bad as I remembered. The burrito, marked as "spicy" on the menu, was so bland I doused it in salsa (mind you, I'm no spicy-food nut...) The frijoles refritos that came with were inedible. InEDIBLE, I couldn't even stomach the crap with a dose of salsa. It was like they made the beans with no spices at all. Nasty stuff. I noticed a co-worker picking at his beans too, so I'm not the only one who thought they were aweful.

Oh, and did I mention the burrito was, what, 5"x3"x2" in size? Where do they come up with justifying their prices, and am I out of touch with the taste of the common man? I've never understood the crowds, and I'm going to insist on never going again.

Chips/Salsa- Chips were good.  It comes with three salsas which is nice.  I only liked one of them, but it's nice to see they give you choices.

Cup of Chicken Soup- make sure to squeeze the lime/lemon into the soup, it gives the soup a kick.  The soup is very fresh...big pieces of chicken, cilantro, onions, tomatoes, rice, and avocado.

Shrimp Rancheros- the shrimp were overcooked :(  However, the broth the shrimps were in was absolutely delicious...flavorful and spicy.  Served with rice, your choice of corn and flour tortillas, and beans.  Rice, tortillas, and beans were all good.  This dish was $19.95 for like 5 shrimps...sorry, I didn't feel it was worth it....especially for overcooked shrimp, which is supposed to be their specialty.

Fajitas de Pollo Borrachas- chicken came in measly little strips that didn't look appetizing.  Even Chevy's fajita meats were more substantial.  The sizzling plate came with mostly vegetables and hardly any meat.   The vegetables were strange for fajitas: broccoli, carrots, squash, etc.   This was $14.95, a little steep for what we got.

Our meal came out to over $40, and I couldn't help but feel a little gypped. :(

Uninspiring, though one of the things they've got going for them is their speedy service.  When our party of ten showed up just a smidge before the huge lunch rush, they put a bunch of tables together, and got waters and baskets of chips to us lickety-split.

The food though... meh.
For my steak fajitas: Pallid, stringy pieces of meat, skimpy crema and guac portions... altogether not so great. For one the few times in my life I had no interest in taking home leftovers.

I hear that their margaritas are awesome, and though I was there with the legal department, gone are the days of the 3-drink lunch.

This place is lame. Way overpriced and totally overrated. Their veggie food is never any good. They put weird veggies like steamed carrots, peas and broccoli in the burritos that just don't belong there.

That said, the margaritas are solid and it's a fun place to come for a drink before the movies.

I would have given 5 stars but every time I go when they open at 11am, I have to wait for my phone in order, 10-15 minutes to be prepared.  With a staff of 8 in the kitchen and on the floor, you would think they would have the beans and rice ready after I call it in.  I called 20 minutes earlier.

I don't know why, but I love their beans and rice here, if we have a mexican BBQ at the office, I have to get the beans and rice from here.  It is pricey, $2.50 per person for each but you get plenty.  They always give plenty of chips and this time 3 types of salsa, a vinegar one, my fave, the fresh, pretty spicy and a chipolte, smoky one, very flavorful.  My boss, who is Mexican, swears by their mole sauce.

Fiesta is a 5 star clutch performer.  When you walk in, the staff is always welcoming, though not effusively so.  If there is a line, write your name on the list.  Lots of first-timers wait for someone to take names as the regulars dive for the waiting list.  There isn't much room at the entry, so best bet is to wait in front of the kitchen where you can peruse the vast tequila selection or stand outside (weather permitting).

After you are seated they bring over some great chips and salsa.  The salsas are all pretty spicy, but among the better selections I've tried.  The margarita menu is legendary as most others have commented on.  Honestly, we usually just go for the house option on the rocks, but for the adventurous you can really do some damage.

Entry selection is heavily focused on seafood (shrimp specifically), but there are also some solid burrito and enchilada options.  The chicken mole is fantastic either straight up or the enchilada.  The house specials run a little on the pricey side, with a few drinks you can easily spend  $30 per person.  Still damn good food but admittedly a little of a shocker when the check comes.

Their beans and rice are an excellent compliment, served in appropriate sized portions which is key.  You never feel like you've completed over done the food thing.

The service is always super-efficient.  If anything, they tend to bring your food super fast, but also never make you feel uncomfortable if your group is leisurely dining.  In the summer you can sit outside for lunch or early evening meals which really is fantastic.  While others have commented on the smallish layout, I've never felt cramped or uncomfortably close to an adjacent table.

Oh yeah, proximity right next to the 101 makes it a viable option for city hipsters.  You can shoot down from urban locales, get a solid meal and never feel like you had to go to the 'burbs!  Palabra.

I had high expectations, and was slightly let down. The enchiladas were great. It came with rice and beans. The price ($15) I found a bit high for enchiladas. They have a great tequila menu and the atmosphere is surprisingly energetic for such an awkward location. I would probably return, but just spend my $15 on agave.
